Welcome to the Fairfield Hospital internet pages. These web pages provide information on our services and helpful information for visitors and patients to our Hospital as well as in introduction to our facility for potential new staff.
Fairfield Hospital is a major metropolitan hospital situated in the South West of Sydney approximately 45 minutes drive from the Sydney city centre. We are based in one of the most multicultural and diverse communities in Australia and celebrate the great language, religious and cultural diversity of the Fairfield, Smithfield and Cabramatta areas.
The Hospital has recently completed our Master Planning Project in February 2015, this project will deliver a Hospital capable of accommodating our growing population's health needs into the future. The planning centred on Models of Care with architects designing building structures that meet clinical service delivery needs and whilst building is still some time away, commitment to provide a service for the future is guaranteed.
Our Hospital has recently undergone a series of works to improve our services and established a range of new clinical services to meet the health care needs of our communities. While our clinical links and networks with Bankstown Hospital, Liverpool Hospital and the Children's Hospital at Westmead have continued to grow and strengthen.
A dedicated Hand Centre has been established at Fairfield Hospital, in September 2013, in a new demountable building next to the Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre. The official opening of the Hand Centre occurred in October 2013 by the NSW Health Minister. The Hand Centre incorporates the pre and post operative clinical assessment and management of hand injuries, as well as hand therapy support. The outpatient clinic has been designed to support a streamlined model of medical assessment, hand therapy and dressing processes to create a positive patient experience while supporting lean work practice methodology for the clinicians.
Fairfield Hospital is home to the Award winning Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre, a Centre of Excellence in joint replacement surgery for the people of South West Sydney. We have an award winning ambulatory care service and links with community health providing services to patients via their home or hospital clinics. We provide medical, surgical and outpatient care as well as a growing obstetric service with a Special Care Nursery for those babies requiring a higher level care.
At Fairfield Hospital we strive for excellence in the delivery of patient care and have a focus on ensuring a positive experience. Patients and their carers may be invited to participate in one of our patient experience interviews to help us in understanding how we may improve our services. If you kindly agree to participate in one of our patient interviews, I thank you for your time and assistance.
Fairfield Hospital is a teaching and learning centre. We have a 100 seat lecture theatre in the Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre and a well resourced health services library for use by our staff. As we are a teaching hospital and have students from many different allied health, nursing and medical training programs, you may be asked if health professional students can be present during your treatment, if you are uncomfortable with this, please tell your treating professional. We have students from the University of NSW, University of Western Sydney, University of Sydney and the Australian Catholic University.
All the staff at Fairfield Hospital are committed to patient safety and quality care. We participate in the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program and have maintained full accreditation status of the Council for many years. In early 2014, Fairfield Hospital was awarded a Four year accreditation under the new Federal National Standards with the hospital being awarded 29 Met with Merits in various action items.
Fairfield Hospital has a strong focus on performance. All our staff take pride in the achievements of our Hospital and we welcome applicants for positions who share a similar drive for achievement and success.
Finally, Fairfield Hospital is a clean hands hospital and we are committed to preventing hospital infections, therefore we ask all our visitors and staff to please use the hand hygiene gels before entering and leaving the Hospital ward and after patient contact.
